Charge current and voltage limits
The programmable constant-current charging allows the designer to set the charge rate via external components, with an 8 A maximum that supports fast charging of larger-capacity packs. The 18 V maximum battery pack voltage accommodates 4-cell lithium-ion packs (typical 4.2 V/cell = 16.8 V nominal) with margin for cell balancing and termination voltage.
