Supercapacitor charging — not a battery charger hack
The BQ24640RVAT is a synchronous-switch-mode charger IC designed specifically for supercapacitors — not a Li-ion linear charger pressed into service. It accepts a 5V–28V supply and delivers CC/CV charging with a termination voltage set for supercap stacks, not cells. The 1 mA supply current keeps quiescent draw negligible in always-on backup systems.
