Charge controller for multi-chemistry packs
The Texas Instruments BQ24400DRG4 is a multi-chemistry battery charge controller that handles NiCd, NiMH, and Li-Ion chemistries from a single part number — no chemistry-specific variant needed on the BOM. The programmable timer and voltage features let you set the termination algorithm for the pack type without external tweaks.
Temperature grade limits the deployment envelope
It is not specced for automotive under-hood or outdoor telecom cabinets where the ambient crosses 70°C.
Supply rail and package constraints
Maximum supply is 6V, so the charger runs off a 5V rail or a single-cell Li-Ion pack.
