Protection coverage — what it shuts down and when
The BQ24351DSGT monitors a single-cell Li-ion pack for over-current, over-temperature, over/under-voltage, and short-circuit conditions. That means a single IC handles the full protection suite for a portable design — no external comparators or supervisor ICs needed for the basic fault set.
Package and thermal — 2x2 mm WSON with exposed pad
The 0.50 mm pitch is manageable on a two-layer board if the trace routing to the battery connector is kept short. Surface-mount assembly with standard lead-free reflow profiles. The 8-WFDFN exposed pad demands a solder paste stencil aperture that covers at least 50% of the pad area — a common cause of thermal-via voiding if the stencil is too thick.
Temperature grade — industrial, not just consumer
The lower end matters for cold-crank battery monitoring in outdoor gear; the upper end keeps the protection active when the device sits in a hot enclosure.
