Single-cell Li-ion safety supervisor
The BQ24311DSGR is a dedicated battery protection IC from Texas Instruments for single-cell Lithium-Ion packs — it monitors the cell voltage and charge/discharge current, and shuts down the FETs if any of the four fault conditions (overcurrent, overtemperature, overvoltage, undervoltage) trip. That means the protection threshold is set inside the IC, not by external resistor dividers; the BOM stays small and the trip points are factory-trimmed.
Fault thresholds and thermal boundary
The protection set covers overcurrent, overtemperature, and over/under-voltage — no separate external sense resistor needed for the current limit. The overcurrent threshold is set internally; the datasheet provides the exact trip values. The 8-WFDFN exposed pad (2x2 mm) demands a thermal land pattern per the TI layout guideline — the pad is the primary heat path.
