What this chip does in a Li-ion pack
The BQ24308DSGR is a single-chip battery protection IC for Lithium Ion chemistries, monitoring over current, over temperature, and over/under voltage conditions on the cell. It sits between the battery and the load or charger, cutting off the path when any fault threshold is crossed. The 8-WSON (2x2) package is small enough to fit inside a battery pack or on a compact protection board.
