3A single-cell charger with I²C programmability
The Texas Instruments BQ24296MRGET is a single-cell Lithium Ion/Polymer battery charger that delivers up to 3A charge current from a supply up to 6.2V. The charge current is constant and programmable via the I²C interface — no external resistor is needed to set the fast-charge rate, which simplifies the BOM and lets the host controller adjust the charging profile on the fly. The device integrates over-current, over-temperature, and over-voltage fault protection on-chip, so a separate supervisor IC is not required for the charger rail. This reduces board area and component count in space-constrained designs like portable instruments, IoT gateways, and handheld medical devices.
