Single-cell Li-Ion charger with I²C programmability
The Texas Instruments BQ24253YFFR is a single-cell Li-Ion battery charger that uses an I²C interface to set the charge current and monitor the charging state. It delivers up to 2 A of programmable charge current to a 4.2 V battery pack, with constant-current charging that is adjustable via the I²C bus.
2 A charge current and fault protection in a 30-DSBGA
The 2 A maximum charge current suits designs charging a single Li-Ion cell from a USB port or a 5 V supply rail, with the supply input rated up to 10.5 V. Integrated fault protection covers over-current, over-temperature, and over-voltage conditions, reducing the need for external supervisory circuits. The 30-DSBGA package (0.4 mm pitch, 30-ball) keeps the footprint small — about 2.5 mm × 2.5 mm — but the fine pitch demands a PCB with at least two signal layers and micro-vias for fan-out.
