The BQ24185YFFT is a single-cell Lithium Ion/Polymer battery charger IC from Texas Instruments, delivering up to 1.5A charge current from a supply up to 16V. The I²C interface lets you program charge current, voltage, and timer thresholds in firmware, eliminating resistor dividers for multi-chemistry or multi-application boards.
Charge current and thermal budget
The 1.5A max charge current is a practical ceiling for a single-cell Li-ion in the 25-DSBGA package. At 1.5A, the power dissipation in the pass element demands a solid copper pour on the PCB — the DSBGA's small footprint (roughly 3.5 mm × 3.5 mm) means the thermal path is through the solder balls and board vias, not a backside pad.
Texas Instruments continues to manufacture and support the part — no last-time-buy deadline or obsolescence risk for current production runs. The ROHS3 compliance is current for global shipping.
