The 1.55A maximum charge current sets the charge time for a typical 1000 mAh to 2000 mAh single-cell pack at roughly one hour to two hours, depending on termination. The I²C interface lets the host adjust the current on the fly for thermal management or USB input current limiting. Keep the PCB trace from the charger output to the battery connector wide enough for 1.55A continuous — 20 mils minimum on 1 oz copper, or use a short, direct route with a via stitch to an inner plane.
