Single-cell Li-Ion charger with I²C programming
The Texas Instruments BQ24153AYFFR is a single-cell Li-Ion or Li-Polymer battery charger controlled over an I²C interface, allowing the host to set charge current and safety timer limits through programmable registers. It supports a maximum battery pack voltage of 4.44V and a programmable charge current up to 1.25A, with constant-current charging that adapts to the cell's needs. Fault protection covers over-temperature and over-voltage events, making it suitable for portable devices where the battery is handled by the end user.
Thermal and supply budget for portable designs
Operating from a 6V maximum supply rail, the charger can run directly from a 5V USB bus or a regulated wall adapter without an extra LDO. Packaged in a 20-DSBGA (20-bump wafer-level chip-scale) with 0.50 mm pitch, the footprint demands a controlled solder-paste stencil and a reflow profile matched to the DSBGA's smaller thermal mass.
Sourcing and lifecycle posture
Available in Tape & Reel (TR) for automated pick-and-place volume assembly and Cut Tape (CT) for prototype or low-quantity builds.
