What the 16V supply and 2A ceiling mean for your BOM
The BQ24125RHLR accepts a supply up to 16 V, which comfortably covers a fully charged 3S Li-ion pack at 12.6 V plus the dropout of the upstream adapter.
Cell count and programmable charge profile
This charger handles 1 to 3 series Li-ion or Li-polymer cells, with the battery pack voltage set at 8.4 V — that's the 2-cell full-charge target. The charge current is constant and programmable, and the IC also lets you program the charge timer so the charge cycle terminates safely if the battery never reaches the regulation voltage.
Fault protection and temp grade
On-chip over-temperature protection shuts down the charger if the die exceeds the safe limit — a useful safeguard when the board is in a sealed enclosure without active airflow.
