2-cell Li-ion charge at 8.4V, 2A max
The BQ24103ARHLTG4: This charger IC is built for 1- or 2-series Li-ion/Polymer packs with a battery regulation voltage of 8.4V. The maximum charge current is 2A — enough to charge a typical 2-cell pack in under two hours, with the charge current programmed via an external resistor. The 16V absolute-maximum input voltage covers common wall adapters and 5V USB inputs with headroom.
Industrial temperature range and fault protection
On-chip fault protection covers over-temperature and over-voltage conditions, reducing the need for external supervisory components.
20-VFQFN with exposed thermal pad
At 2A charge current the pad keeps the junction temperature within the operating range — layout should follow the recommended footprint in the datasheet.
Programmable current and timer — design flexibility
The charger offers programmable charge current and a safety timer. This lets the designer set the charge rate to match the battery capacity and terminate the charge if the timer expires — useful for unattended charging in portable devices.
