1A charge current, 4.35V termination — sizing the power path
The BQ24095DGQT is a single-cell linear charger for Li-Ion and Li-Polymer packs, with a programmable charge current up to 1A and a battery regulation voltage of 4.35V. The 4.35V termination is above the more common 4.2V ceiling, so the battery chemistry must explicitly support this higher voltage — pairing it with a standard 4.2V cell risks overvoltage and reduced cycle life. The USB interface and 6.45V supply maximum mean the part runs directly off a 5V USB bus or a 5V wall adapter without a pre-regulator. A 9V or 12V input, however, exceeds the abs-max and needs a buck or LDO ahead of this charger.
Fault protection and programmability — what is built in
Integrated fault protection covers over-temperature, over-voltage, and short-circuit conditions, so the design does not need an external supervisor for basic safety. The only programmable feature is charge current — set via a single resistor from the ISET pin to ground.
