Single-cell Li-Ion linear charger in a 3x3 mm VSON
The BQ24086DRCR is a Texas Instruments linear battery charger for single-cell Lithium Ion or Lithium Polymer packs. The 10-VSON package (3x3 mm) keeps the footprint small enough for space-constrained portable designs. Built-in fault protection covers over-temperature, over-voltage, and short-circuit conditions, so the charger can sit directly on the battery node without an external protector. The timer-based termination ends the charge cycle after a programmable period, which suits applications where full-charge detection by current taper is not required.
Charge current and supply voltage limits
The 750 mA charge-current ceiling sets the charge rate for a single 4.2 V Li-Ion cell. For a typical 1000 mAh cell, that is a 0.75C rate — a full charge in roughly 1.5 hours. The 6.5 V supply max means a 5 V USB source or a 5.5 V wall adapter fits comfortably, but a 9 V or 12 V rail needs a pre-regulator. That covers commercial and most industrial environments; the high end allows the part to run near a hot battery without derating the charge current.
