1A charge rate with programmable current and timer
The Texas Instruments BQ24083DRCT is a linear battery charger IC designed for single-cell Lithium Ion and Lithium Polymer packs. It delivers up to 1A charge current to a 4.2V battery, with the charge current and safety timer set by external resistors — no digital interface required.
10-VSON package: footprint and rework
Housed in a 10-VFDFN with exposed pad (3x3 mm body, supplier package 10-VSON), the part is surface-mount only. The exposed pad is the main thermal path — the PCB copper area under it sets the junction-to-ambient thermal resistance. A hot-air rework station can lift this package cleanly if the pad is pre-tinned and the board is preheated; the orientation mark (pin 1 indicator) is moulded into the package top.
