Single-cell Li-Ion charger with USB input and integrated protection
Four fault protections are integrated on-chip — over-temperature, over-voltage, reverse-current, and short-circuit — so the BOM can omit external protection FETs and sense resistors, saving board space in portable devices.
1.5 A charge current and programmable timer in a 3×3 mm QFN
The charge current is programmable via an external resistor; combined with a programmable safety timer, the designer sets both the fast-charge rate and the maximum charge duration to protect the cell. Supply voltage max is 6.4 V, so a standard 5 V USB rail with ±10% tolerance stays well inside the safe window.
