Integrated fault protection covers over-temperature, over-voltage, reverse-current, and short-circuit conditions — non-negotiable for a charger that must survive load dumps and battery disconnect events in a vehicle. Charge current and safety timer are programmable via external resistors, allowing the designer to match the charge profile to the cell capacity without firmware intervention. Maximum supply voltage is 6.4 V.
