1.5 A programmable linear charger for single-cell Li-ion packs
Texas Instruments BQ24071RHLR is a single-cell Li-Ion/Polymer linear charger IC delivering a programmable constant current up to 1.5 A to a 4.2 V battery pack. The linear topology keeps the noise floor low — no switching ripple to couple into nearby analog or RF rails — which matters when the charger shares a board with a sensitive radio or sensor front-end. The device integrates over-temperature, reverse-current, and short-circuit fault protection, reducing the external component count for a compact BOM.
Programmable current and timer — set the charge profile without firmware
Charge current and safety timer are programmable via external resistors, so the charging profile is set in hardware — no I²C or firmware dependency. This simplifies qualification in a regulated environment where the charge algorithm must be deterministic. The 16 V maximum supply voltage allows direct connection to a 5 V USB bus or a 12 V wall adapter without a pre-regulator, reducing the power-stage component count.
Active production — tape & reel, surface-mount package
Supplied in Tape & Reel on a 20-VFQFN Exposed Pad package, with the 20-VQFN (3.5x4.5) supplier device package.
