The 16 V max supply input accepts common USB or 5 V wall-adapter rails, with built-in over-temperature, reverse-current, and short-circuit fault protection.
Charge current is constant and programmable via an external resistor, with a 1.5 A maximum ceiling. The IC also includes a programmable timer for charge termination, giving the designer control over charge profile without a host MCU.
