1.5 A single-cell Li-ion charger with USB input
The Texas Instruments BQ24035RHLR is a linear battery charger from the bqTINY™ III series, designed for single-cell Lithium-Ion or Lithium-Polymer packs. It accepts a USB input and delivers a programmable constant charge current up to 1.5 A, with the battery regulation voltage fixed at 4.2 V. The 16 V maximum supply voltage gives headroom for 5 V USB or higher-voltage wall adapters without an external pre-regulator.
Charge current and thermal design
The 1.5 A maximum charge current is programmable via an external resistor, letting you set the charge rate to match the battery capacity and thermal budget.
Protection and programmable features
Built-in fault protection covers over-temperature, reverse current, and short-circuit conditions — the charger shuts down or limits current automatically without external monitoring. The programmable timer sets a safety timeout for the charge cycle, and the current-programming resistor also sets the termination threshold. These features reduce the external component count to a few resistors and capacitors around the 20-VFQFN package.
