Charge current and regulation — sizing the thermal budget
Maximum charge current is 500 mA, which sets the power dissipation floor for the 10-VSON exposed-pad package. Battery regulation voltage is fixed at 4.2 V, the standard termination for single-cell Li-Ion and Li-Polymer. No external resistor divider sets this voltage; the charger terminates when the cell reaches 4.2 V and the current tapers.
USB interface and programmable features
The USB interface allows direct connection to a USB port or a 5 V wall adapter. Input supply maximum is 6.5 V — a 5 V USB rail with ±10% tolerance is safe, but a 5% margin is recommended to avoid the 6.5 V absolute maximum. Charge current and charge timer are programmable via external resistors and a capacitor. The timer provides a safety timeout; if the battery does not reach the regulation voltage within the programmed window, the charger faults and signals the host.
