Product details

1A single-cell Li-Ion charger in 3x3 VSON

The BQ24010DRCRG4 is a Texas Instruments bqTINY series linear charger for single-cell Lithium Ion or Lithium Polymer battery packs, delivering a programmable constant charge current up to 1A. Charge current and charge timer are programmable via external components, and the device includes short-circuit fault protection. The 10-VSON (3x3 mm) package with exposed pad keeps the thermal footprint small for space-constrained portable designs.

Charge current and cell count — what fits your BOM

Maximum charge current is 1A, set by the ISET resistor. This covers the majority of single-cell Li-Ion packs in the 500 mAh to 2000 mAh range — the charge rate stays below 1C for most cells, which is the safe sweet spot for cycle life. The charger is designed for exactly one cell (battery pack voltage 4.2V). It cannot charge two cells in series — the regulation voltage is fixed at 4.2V, not 8.4V. Supply voltage maximum is 16.5V, which gives headroom for 5V USB or 12V wall-adapter inputs without an external pre-regulator. The linear topology means input voltage above 4.2V is dissipated as heat — at 1A charge current and 5V input, the package dissipates about 0.8W, manageable with the exposed pad soldered to a copper plane.
