Single-cell Li-Ion charger — 4.1V termination, now obsolete
The Texas Instruments BQ2057DGKR is a linear single-cell charger IC for Lithium Ion/Polymer packs, terminating at 4.1V. Charge current is constant and programmable via an external resistor — no I²C or SMBus interface, just a resistor to set the rate.
What the specs mean for your BOM
The 4.1V termination voltage is the key fit check: if your design charges 4.2V cells, this part undercharges them to roughly 95% capacity. For 4.1V-rated cells (common in older Li-Ion chemistries and some Li-Po packs), it is a direct match. Operating temperature spans -20°C to 70°C — fine for consumer portable gear, indoor chargers, and handheld instruments. The supply input can go up to 15V, giving headroom for 5V USB or 9V wall-adapter inputs.
