Single-cell Li-Ion/Polymer linear charger with programmable current
The Texas Instruments BQ2057CDGKR is a linear charger IC designed for single-cell Lithium Ion or Lithium Polymer battery packs. It terminates at 4.2 V and the charge current is set by an external resistor — constant-current, constant-voltage profile with no firmware overhead.
Programmable charge current — set the rate with one resistor
The charge current is constant and programmable via a single external resistor. That means the same PCB layout can cover different cell capacities by swapping one component — useful when a single BOM runs across multiple product tiers. Supply voltage max is 15 V, so the part can run from a 5 V USB rail or a 12 V wall adapter without a separate pre-regulator, as long as the input-to-output dropout is within the pass transistor's headroom.
Housed in an 8-TSSOP or 8-MSOP (3.00 mm width) package, with the supplier device package listed as 8-VSSOP. The small footprint suits handheld and wearable PCBs where board area is tight. Surface-mount assembly only. Not specified for automotive under-hood or extended industrial temperature.
Suitable for both new design-in and ongoing production without a looming supply discontinuity.
