Quad differential line receiver for 3.3V RS-422/RS-485 buses
It integrates four independent receivers in a single 16-SOIC package, each with differential inputs and a single-ended TTL/CMOS-compatible output.
Hysteresis and noise margin on long cables
The 35 mV receiver hysteresis is the spec that keeps the bus from chattering on a long, unterminated stub. For RS-485 runs over 100 metres, the differential signal can degrade to a few hundred millivolts; the hysteresis sets a clean switching threshold that ignores the residual noise. If your cable run is short and well-terminated, the hysteresis is still there as free margin.
Package and footprint — SOIC-16 wide-body
The 16-SOIC (0.209", 5.30 mm width) wide-body package is the same footprint as the standard SOIC-16W.
