3V-only rail — no 5V tolerance
The narrow supply window also means a 3.3V rail needs to stay within regulation; a 3.0V LDO with 2% tolerance is fine, but a dropping 3.3V rail that sags below 3.0V during a transient will drop the receiver out of spec.

With 0 drivers and 4 receivers, the AM26LV32EIDR is a pure receive-side device. For a full RS-485 node you pair it with a separate driver or a transceiver like the SN65HVD3082E. The all-receiver configuration is common in star-topology receive concentrators or where the transmit path is handled by a different voltage domain.
The base product number AM26LV32 covers a family of quad receivers with different temperature grades and package options, so if a future design needs a wider temperature range or a different footprint, a sibling variant exists without a full requalification.
