16-bit SAR with differential input and 400k SPS throughput
The Texas Instruments ADS8865IDRCT is a 16-bit successive-approximation-register (SAR) ADC from the microPOWER™ family, sampling at 400k samples per second. The differential input architecture rejects common-mode noise on the analog front-end, which is the difference that matters when the signal source is a bridge sensor or a remote transducer with a long twisted-pair run. A single analog input channel with a 1:1 S/H-to-ADC ratio means the sample-and-hold captures the differential voltage directly — no internal mux to add settling time. The SPI data interface keeps the digital side clean and the pin count low.
Supply rails and temperature grade
The reference is external — the converter's accuracy tracks whatever reference you choose, so the long-term drift of the system is set by the reference, not the ADC. For a traceable measurement chain, pair it with a low-drift voltage reference that has a published temperature coefficient.
The exposed pad under the package must be soldered to the PCB ground plane for thermal and electrical contact — the datasheet's recommended footprint keeps the thermal resistance within spec. RoHS3 compliant per the manufacturer's declaration, so it passes the material-restriction check for EU and UK markets without an exemption review.
