Product details

Dual simultaneous SAR at 1 MSPS

The ADS8355IRTET is a 16-bit successive-approximation-register (SAR) ADC that samples two channels simultaneously at 1 MSPS per channel — useful for correlating two time-aligned analog signals, like current and voltage in a motor phase or I/Q data in a coherent receiver. Each of the two internal converters has its own track-and-hold, so there is no skew between the two sampled values. The pseudo-differential or single-ended input per channel gives flexibility on the front-end wiring.

Package that survives hot air

Housed in a 16-WQFN with a 3x3 mm body and an exposed pad underneath — the pad is the main thermal path and also the ground return. The 0.5 mm pitch leads are on the perimeter, so you can see the solder joints after reflow. The exposed pad needs a good solder-paste stencil aperture to avoid voids under the die. Standard lead-free profile with a 260°C peak works; no special bake required if the reel is fresh from the moisture-barrier bag. Will it survive the hot air? Yes — the QFN body is moulded epoxy, and the pad pulls heat away fast enough that adjacent passives don't reflow unless you're careless with the nozzle.

Supply rails and temperature range

The reference can be internal (2.5 V typical) or an external source — the internal one is trimmed but an external reference improves drift if the system already has a precision voltage. The 125°C limit is the junction temperature; the package's thermal resistance through the exposed pad keeps the die within spec even in a hot enclosure.

Active production and compliance

Packaged in Tape & Reel (TR) for automated pick-and-place, also available in Cut Tape (CT) for prototype or low-volume builds.

Frequently asked questions

Is ADS8355IRTET a drop-in replacement for ADS7887SDCKT?

No — the ADS7887SDCKT is a single-channel 10-bit ADC in a different package (SOT-23) with a supply-voltage reference. The ADS8355IRTET is a dual-channel 16-bit part in a 16-WQFN with external or internal reference. The pinout, resolution, and channel count are all different; a board redesign is required.

What compliance documentation does Texas Instruments provide for ADS8355IRTET?

Texas Instruments provides ROHS3 compliance certification for the ADS8355IRTET. The part is also REACH-compliant per TI's standard material declarations. No UL or IEC specific certification is listed in the available documentation.
