12-bit touchscreen ADC with 780 µA draw
The ADS7846AN is a 12-bit successive-approximation ADC specifically designed for 4-wire resistive touchscreens, converting the analog touch coordinates into a digital SPI-compatible output stream. Supply current sits at 780 µA typical — low enough to run continuously in a battery-powered panel without draining the system rail, and the 2.2V–5.25V supply range means it can share the same 3.3V or 5V bus as the host MCU without a separate regulator.
Interface, reference, and package fit
Digital interface supports Microwire, QSPI, and SPI — the part plugs straight into any MCU with a standard SPI port; no glue logic needed for clock polarity or chip-select timing. Voltage reference can be supplied externally or generated internally, giving the layout engineer flexibility to share a precision reference across multiple analog inputs or save a pin by using the on-chip reference.
