12-bit SAR, 8-channel MUX-ADC with I²C
The ADS7128IRTET is a 12-bit successive-approximation register (SAR) ADC with an 8-channel input multiplexer feeding a single conversion core — the MUX-ADC configuration means the ADC samples one channel at a time, not simultaneously. Data is read over an I²C interface; the internal oscillator drives the conversion clock, so no external clock source is needed, but the sampling rate is set by the on-chip RC and cannot be adjusted externally. The analog supply range is 2.35 V to 5.5 V, while the digital supply runs from 1.65 V to 5.5 V — this split-rail design lets the ADC talk directly to a 1.8 V or 3.3 V host controller without a level translator.
Package and temperature grade for the bench
Housed in a 16-lead WFQFN with exposed pad (3x3 mm body), the device operates from -40°C to 85°C — the industrial temperature band covers most factory-floor and instrumentation environments, but not extended automotive or downhole applications. The exposed pad must be soldered to a PCB thermal land; the datasheet layout guidance separates the analog and digital ground planes under the IC to keep digital switching noise out of the analog input path.
