24-bit sigma-delta ADC with integrated PGA — why it matters for precision measurements
The Texas Instruments ADS1256IDBTG4 is a 24-bit sigma-delta ADC that integrates a programmable gain amplifier (PGA) and an input multiplexer in a single 28-SSOP package. This architecture is designed for precision measurement applications where low noise and high resolution are critical, such as weigh scales, pressure transducers, and industrial process control. The MUX-PGA-ADC configuration allows the device to handle up to 4 differential or 8 single-ended inputs through the same signal chain.
30 kSPS sampling rate and supply rails
The ADC samples at 30 kSPS. An external voltage reference is required — the ADS1256 does not include an internal reference. The SPI data interface keeps the pin count low and is compatible with most microcontrollers.
