The ADC10D040CIVS/NOPB comes in a 48-TQFP (7x7 mm) package on Tray — the 0.5 mm pitch requires a controlled impedance layout for the parallel data bus, especially at 40 MSPS where the digital output transitions can couple back into the analog input if the ground plane is split poorly.
40 MSPS sampling rate — the real signal bandwidth ceiling
At 40 MSPS the Nyquist zone extends to 20 MHz — this is a 10-bit Two-Step architecture, so the effective number of bits (ENOB) will roll off before Nyquist; for a clean 10-bit ENOB expect to stay below 10–12 MHz input bandwidth. The simultaneous sampling on two single-ended channels means the S/H-ADC pair captures both inputs within the same aperture — useful for I/Q demodulation or two-phase current sensing where the phase relationship between channels matters. The parallel data interface outputs all 10 bits on a single bus — at 40 MSPS the bus toggles at 40 MHz, so the PCB trace length matching between the ADC and the FPGA or DSP must be within 0.5 inch to avoid setup/hold violations on the receiver.
