The ADC0834CCN/NOPB is an 8-bit successive-approximation-register (SAR) ADC from Texas Instruments, packing a 4-channel input multiplexer (configurable as 2 differential or 4 single-ended inputs) and an SPI serial interface into a 14-pin DIP package. Its 31.25 kSPS sampling rate is modest by modern standards, but that is often enough for slow-moving signals like temperature, pressure, or panel potentiometer feedback — and the through-hole PDIP package makes it a natural fit for breadboard prototyping, one-off repairs, or legacy boards where a surface-mount part would require a layout spin. The single 4.5 V to 6.3 V supply rail powers both the analog and digital sections, so no separate AVDD/DVDD sequencing is needed — just a clean 5 V rail and an external reference voltage (the reference type is external) to set the full-scale range.
