What this dual buffer is for

It takes two single-bit input signals and drives them onto a bus or downstream logic without inversion, and the 3-state output lets you disconnect each channel from the bus when the corresponding output-enable pin is inactive.

Each output sources or sinks 32 mA, symmetric high and low. That is enough to drive a handful of CMOS loads or a short trace on a dense PCB, but if you are fanning out to more than four or five inputs, or driving a long backplane trace, you will want to check the DC fan-out against the input leakage of the downstream devices.

It comes in an 8-VFSOP (2.30 mm wide) and the supplier device package is 8-VSSOP. That is a very small footprint — about 2.3 mm × 2.1 mm — which is great for cramming into a tight layout but a pain if you are hand-reworking a board.
