Single-gate inverting buffer with 3-state output
The Texas Instruments 74LVC1G240DBVRG4 is a single-gate inverting buffer with a 3-state output, part of the 74LVC logic family. The output can sink or source 32 mA, enough to drive a handful of CMOS inputs or a low-power LED indicator. Housed in a SOT-23-5 package, it fits space-constrained layouts on industrial control boards or automotive ECUs.
Output drive and 3-state control
The 3-state output allows the buffer to be placed on a shared bus — when the output enable is deasserted, the pin goes high-impedance, letting another device drive the line without contention. This is useful in multiplexed address/data buses or shared interrupt lines.
