The 74LS28PC: It performs the standard NOR logic function — output goes low when any input is high — and is used in general-purpose digital logic, glue logic, and control signal inversion in industrial and commercial equipment.
For a part this mature, the independent channel is the normal route — franchised distributors may carry limited depth, but the part is readily available through the surplus and excess market.
A functional alternative is the 74F27NSR, a 3-input NOR gate in surface-mount package, but it is not pin-compatible due to different input count and package. For a direct 2-input NOR replacement, another 74LS-series quad NOR gate such as the 74LS02 (quad 2-input NOR) is a closer match in logic function and through-hole package.
