What this single-gate buffer does that a regular buffer can't
The 74AHC1G125DBVTE4 is a single-gate, non-inverting buffer with a 3-state output — the output can be actively driven high or low, or switched to a high-impedance state. That third state lets you disconnect the buffer from the bus without pulling the line, which is the whole point: multiple drivers on one trace, only one active at a time. It's a single-bit bus keeper or enable gate in a SOT-23-5 package. Supply range from 2V to 5.5V covers 3.3V and 5V logic rails without a level translator, and the 8mA source/sink drive is enough to light a LED, drive a small relay coil through a resistor, or fan out to four or five CMOS inputs. Temperature rating goes to 125°C ambient — that's the full industrial-plus range, so it's at home in a motor drive enclosure or an under-hood ECU, not just a benchtop prototype.
