What the 54S258DM does on the board
The 54S258DM is a dual 2-line input multiplexer from Texas Instruments, built on TTL logic. It selects one of two data sources per channel and routes the chosen signal to the output — a basic data-routing function common in bus-oriented or signal-switching applications within the Analog & Data Acquisition space.
Package and sourcing note
Supplied in Bulk package — loose units, not tape-and-reel. For a prototype run or a small repair batch this is fine; for high-volume pick-and-place you will need to negotiate tube or tray packaging separately with the distributor.
