What this 8-bit D latch does
The 54LS259DM is a single 8-bit D latch built on TTL logic. It holds eight bits of data on the latch outputs when the enable is asserted, and passes the D inputs through when enabled — standard addressable-latch behaviour for bus-interface or register-bank applications. One function, one package, eight bits wide.
Sourcing and lifecycle
It is RoHS non-compliant, which means it is intended for legacy builds, military/aerospace contracts, or other applications with a RoHS exemption — not for new designs that require lead-free assembly.
Package and handling
This part is — loose devices, not tape-and-reel. For a through-hole board build, Bulk is the standard delivery for low-volume or prototype insertion. No reel or tube orientation to manage; just lead form and insertion.
