68 µH, 190 mA — what the ratings tell you
This is a 68 µH wirewound inductor in an unshielded 1210 (3225 Metric) package. The 190 mA current rating is the DC current at which the inductance typically drops by 10% — push past that and the core starts to saturate, which shows up as a hot inductor and a noisy rail on the scope. The 1 Ohm DCR means at 190 mA you are dropping 190 mV and dissipating about 36 mW as heat; that is fine for a signal-line filter or a low-power buck converter, but not for a high-efficiency power stage. The self-resonant frequency is 8 MHz. Above that frequency the inductor looks capacitive, so if you are filtering a 10 MHz switching node, this part will not do what the inductance number suggests. Keep the switching frequency well below 8 MHz — say 2–3 MHz — to stay in the inductive region. The unshielded construction means the magnetic field leaks — keep it away from sensitive analog traces or other inductors that could cross-couple.
Sourcing and replacement path
The 1210 (3225 Metric) package is a standard size, so alternatives exist — but the DCR and current rating will differ, so re-qualify the power dissipation on your board.
