NRND lifecycle — plan the BOM migration
The LBC3225T150MR: This means the part is still available for existing production but is not intended for new board spins — the manufacturer has flagged it for eventual phase-out.
15 µH, 420 mA — what the ratings mean for fit
The LBC3225T150MR is a 15 µH wirewound inductor rated for 420 mA continuous DC current with a DC resistance of 195 mOhm. The 420 mA figure is the current at which the temperature rise stays within the part's limits — pushing past it increases core saturation and copper losses, so size the load current below this ceiling. Self-resonant frequency is 20 MHz, tested at 100 kHz. This is the frequency where the inductor's parasitic capacitance cancels the inductance — above it the component behaves capacitively, so keep the switching or ripple frequency well below 20 MHz to maintain inductive filtering.
1210 footprint — board-fit note
The unshielded construction means the magnetic field radiates — adjacent traces carrying sensitive analog signals should be kept at least one package width away to avoid coupling. Operating temperature range is -40°C to 105°C, covering industrial and automotive cabin environments. The ±20% tolerance is typical for power inductors — the actual inductance at the rated current will be lower due to DC bias, so design the filter or converter for the minimum inductance at full load.
