22 µH, 165 mA — the DC resistance governs the thermal budget
This wirewound inductor delivers 22 µH at 165 mA continuous current, with a DC resistance of 1.8 Ohm. The I²R loss at rated current is just under 50 mW — well within the 0806 package's dissipation capability, but the DCR is the limiting factor for efficiency in a DC-DC filter leg, not the saturation current.
Unshielded — layout matters
The unshielded construction means the magnetic field extends beyond the part body. In a dense board, keep sensitive traces — especially feedback nodes or analog signal lines — at least one body width away. The self-resonant frequency of 16 MHz is well above the switching frequency of most buck converters, so the inductor behaves as a pure inductance in the 100 kHz to 2 MHz band.
