The unshielded construction means the magnetic field radiates from the core; keep sensitive analog or RF traces at least one part width away in layout.
Current rating and DCR: sizing for converter output filters
At 690 mA rated current, this inductor can handle the ripple plus DC bias in a 500 mA output buck converter with margin — the 100 mOhm DCR produces about 48 mW of I²R loss at full current, which is manageable in the 0806 package without excessive temperature rise. The 100 MHz self-resonant frequency is well above the switching frequency of most DC-DC converters (typically 500 kHz to 3 MHz), so the inductor behaves as a pure inductive element in-band without capacitive coupling at the operating frequency. Inductance is tested at 7.96 MHz, which is a standard test frequency for 1 µH inductors — the actual inductance at DC bias will be slightly lower due to core saturation, but the ±20% tolerance covers the variation.
