15 µH, 200 mA, 1.2 Ohm — the three numbers that decide fit
The 15 µH inductance at 2.52 MHz test frequency and 200 mA DC current rating define the operating point for a DC-DC output filter or signal-line choke. The 1.2 Ohm DCR sets the I²R loss — at 200 mA the self-heating is roughly 48 mW, negligible in free air but a factor in a dense board with limited copper pour. Unshielded construction means the magnetic field radiates — keep sensitive analog traces or high-impedance nodes at least one body width away. The ferrite core material gives a self-resonant frequency of 28 MHz, above most switching-regulator fundamentals, so the inductor behaves as an inductor in-band.
0806 footprint and temperature grade
Tape-and-reel packaging (TR) is the standard delivery format for pick-and-place. The ±20% tolerance is typical for power-grade ferrite inductors — the inductance spread matters most at the tolerance extremes for a resonant circuit; for a buck-converter output filter the DC bias characteristic of the core dominates the effective inductance drop.
