The 32 MHz self-resonant frequency means this inductor behaves inductively up to that point; above 32 MHz the parasitic capacitance between windings dominates and the impedance rolls off. For a buck converter switching at 1–2 MHz, the SRF provides plenty of margin, but a boost converter pushing 10 MHz would see the effective inductance drop well before the SRF.
0806 footprint and unshielded construction — layout trade-offs
The unshielded construction means the magnetic field radiates into the surrounding PCB area; keep sensitive analog traces or high-impedance nodes at least 3–4 mm away from the inductor body to avoid coupled noise. The ferrite core material saturates gradually above the rated current, so a 300 mA transient peak will not cause a hard short, but the inductance will drop by roughly 10–15% depending on the core geometry.
