220µF at 6.3V — the SMPS filter decision
Taiyo Yuden's JMK316BBJ227ML-TE is a 220µF X5R ceramic capacitor in the 1206 (3216 Metric) surface-mount footprint, rated 6.3V — a common input-bulk decoupling value for 5V and lower-rail point-of-load converters and synchronous buck stages. 220µF in an MLCC delivers much lower ESR than an equivalent electrolytic at the switching frequency, which is why the part is listed for SMPS filtering — it damps ripple current at the converter input or output without the ESR penalty that would eat efficiency. The ±20% tolerance is the NPO/X7R/X5R ceramic tolerance floor — for a bulk decoupling role this is fine; for precision timing or filtering at a specific frequency corner, the tolerance band is wide enough to shift the pole.
X5R over the operating range — what 85°C ceiling means
The X5R temperature coefficient means the capacitance value drifts down as temperature rises — at 85°C the part is still performing within its rated 220µF minus the tolerance band, but there is no thermal headroom beyond that ceiling. The -55°C to 85°C window is commercial/industrial-grade; for automotive or under-hood deployment the temperature ceiling at 85°C would be a constraint, and an X7R or COG/NPO grade would be the step up.
1206 footprint and reel packaging
The 1206 land pattern accepts the 3.20mm × 1.60mm body; the maximum thickness of 1.90mm sits well within the standard paste-print and reflow window for a two-terminal MLCC of this size.
