22 µF at 6.3V — what the rating decides
22 µF is a common bulk-decoupling value for microcontroller VDD rails and automotive sensor supply filtering. The 6.3V rating gives a 25% margin over a nominal 5V rail — sufficient for 5V automotive domains but not for 12V supply rails, where a 25V part would be required. For bulk decoupling that is acceptable; for precision timing or filter cutoff stability a C0G/NP0 part would be needed instead. The ±20% tolerance label is the initial spread at 25°C — the temperature coefficient dominates drift in the X7R part once it leaves room temperature.
1206 footprint and 1.80mm height
The 1206 (3.20 mm × 1.60 mm) land pattern is one of the most widely accepted capacitor footprints in automotive ECU layouts, giving good availability across multiple manufacturers. The 1.80 mm maximum thickness is the board-side clearance constraint — it clears most standard-height stencil openings but may require a dedicated paste mask step for reliable solder joint fill on fine-pitch pads. Surface-mount termination with tin-plated electrodes — the part ships on Tape & Reel (TR) for automated placement and Cut Tape (CT) for low-volume hand assembly or prototyping.
