TVS protection for telecom rail input
The 1.5SMC62A clamps the line at 85V maximum while drawing 18A through the transient — the standoff rating of 53V means it sits idle on a 48V telecom bus without conducting, then limits the spike before it reaches downstream circuitry. At 1500W peak pulse the device absorbs the energy budget of a typical secondary lightning surge or switching transient on a power-distribution rail, which is the reason telecom equipment specifying this series targets the rail input stage first.
