Product details

Sensitive-gate triac for low-power AC switching

The Z0107MA 5AL2 is a logic-level sensitive-gate triac from STMicroelectronics, rated for 600 V off-state voltage and 1 A RMS on-state current in a TO-92-3 through-hole package. With a maximum gate trigger current of 5 mA and gate trigger voltage of 1.3 V, it can be driven directly from a microcontroller I/O pin or a low-power logic output without an intermediate driver transistor.

What the ratings mean for your BOM

The 600 V off-state voltage provides adequate headroom for 230 VAC mains applications (peak ~325 V) with margin for typical line transients up to 600 V. The 1 A RMS continuous current rating suits small resistive or inductive loads such as fans, pumps, solenoids, or lighting dimmers up to about 230 W on a 230 V line. The 10 mA maximum holding current means the triac will stay latched once triggered as long as the load current stays above that threshold — important for low-current loads where the holding current may not be met, causing the triac to drop out mid-cycle. Non-repetitive surge current rating of 8 A (50 Hz) and 8.5 A (60 Hz) covers inrush from incandescent lamps or motor start-up without damaging the die.

The TO-92-3 (TO-226AA) through-hole package has a 2.54 mm pin pitch and is compatible with standard 0.1-inch prototyping boards or wave-solder assembly.

ROHS3 compliant, meeting the latest EU restriction of hazardous substances directive for lead-free assembly.
